JLee Bonsai is dedicated to elevating bonsai in the United States through refined craftsmanship, deep knowledge, and artistic expression.

Jeremiah began his bonsai journey after graduating from UC Santa Barbara, quickly turning an online spark of inspiration into a lasting passion. Early visits to Muranaka Bonsai Nursery and mentorship from a young Peter Tea set his path in the art.

While Peter trained in Japan, Jeremiah studied under Boon Manakitivipart, completing Boon’s intensive program and joining Bay Island Bonsai. He later did a short-term visiting apprenticeship at Aichi-En in Nagoya and has continued studying with his main teacher, mentor, and friend Peter Tea since Peter’s return to the U.S.

Jeremiah is also an avid collector of North American native yamadori, a pursuit he began in 2009. Trees developed under his care and guided by Peter Tea have earned national recognition, including awards at the U.S. National Bonsai Exhibition (2018) and the Pacific Bonsai Expo (2024).
